We have many feeders that we supply for the local bird population.  At this spot is a small hanging feeder that the little birds love to feed from.  I say feed, what they tend to do is root around through the seed by literally getting their head in it and shoving seed this way and that, occasionally taking a bit here and there.  The result is a bird seed flurry in the air and a mess on the ground.

Cue Wood Pigeons.

Quite the gluttonous lot, they can wipe out a  heaped bird table's offerings in a matter of minutes waddling off to the next one.  But they also love to have a tidy under the smaller birds' feeder which is nice of them.  I fully expect one morning to look out and see a few on their backs, mouths open just waiting for the little birds to arrive.

Well, it would save all that walking and pecking ;-)

And this is a slight improvement from yesterday :-(   I like my desk to be neat and this is driving me looney.  Well, more looney than I am naturally.  There are magazines that have been read and articles I want to check on the net (usually I just jot down a url in a notepad, but couldn't be bothered the last few days), printoffs from pre-illness that are still waiting to be dealt with, the camera was waiting to be unloaded to the iPhoto, Wii ditty's to enter online, the iPod is wanting sync, leftover planning material for the holiday, recipes waiting to be entered into Yum, a book or two waiting to be added to LibraryThing, a letter from "my Monk" that needs a reply (yes, a handwritten one, imagine that) and various bits that I'm still trying to remember exactly why I kept them.

And then there's MacKenzie, happy in his desk home, seemingly oblivious to all that goes on around him (but I'm certain every so often I hear a 'tsk, tsk' from his direction!)
