Show us something you can't explain.
I read about Jill Bolte Taylor a few weekends ago ago in the Guardian and was thoroughly enthralled by her story. While some seem to think that she really, honestly has experienced Nirvana, other tend to believe that she simply experienced her brain "not functioning correctly" to put it simply.
The jury is still definitely out for me, but have pre-ordered her book to read more of her fascinating story and may even do some searching around the net in the next few weeks because this has really piqued my interest, wondering what sorts of experiences other stroke sufferers have had.
In either case, she makes quite the story teller on stage in this video and I was quite moved while watching it and found her to be most genuine.
Found this video on Alissa's blog while meandering through my neighbourhood. True over here too - maybe with the economy going the way it is people will find other 'hobbies'.
I am a huge fan of kd lang, and she was on BBC Four's Sessions program a little while ago, which I recorded onto DVD and just got a chance to watch last week. Worth the wait, and you can watch it online with the BBC's iPlayer also. My favourite song that she sings, without a doubt, is Constant Craving. The video is a bit dated and not of the best quality, but her voice shines through!
I think that Leona Lewis has a good voice and hope that the fact she won/was on X Factor doesn't deter people from having a listen or at least giving her a chance. I'm not crazy about the video itself, but do like the song and have a feeling that if it's played many more times today it is destined to become my earworm for tonight - and possibly tomorrow!

I ran across this video on JonnyB’s Private Secret Diary, a very entertaining blog from a fellow Norfolker. The video is funny, poignant, and from what I’ve heard, becoming rather famous in it’s own right.
For
those of you unfamiliar with the UK post office situation - quickly and probably not very
thoroughly, an ex-pat American tries to explain – after the video, please.
Here in England a Post Office isn't just a place to buy a stamp or have a parcel weighed prior to sending. The Post Offices offer 101 (ok, possibly not that many, but there are lots!) services from purchasing a single solitary stamp to banking. You can buy insurance of all sorts, apply for loans, get your car tax disc, pay bills or open a savings account – and these are just a few of the offerings. Have a look at the services page of the Post Office website for a more comprehensive listing.
Point being that it is essentially a “one stop shop” for many day to day requirements.
This “one stop shop” can be an invaluable asset to the elderly, low income and disabled members of the villages they serve. Also, as in the case of the pub not being ‘just a bar’, the Post Office also becomes a meeting place for all of those who use its services. Sometimes members of the community can only get out once a week or so, and this is where they can catch up with neighbours and the local ‘goings-on’, do all manner of financial/postal/governmental business plus a bit of interaction with friends and neighbours.
It can be, and many times definitely is, a lifeline for those most dependant on it.
These village Post Offices have been and are continuing to close. In some places, the community has come together and purchased the Post Office to run themselves. Some are still fighting closures, some are looking for other alternatives and some just close with little more than a grumble or two – until they’ve been gone a few weeks and their absence is felt in the form of travel, time and money wasted by the people who now have to travel to another town/village (sometimes more than one) to do all of the things they could previously do by taking a stroll down to the local Post Office.
Just a little Santana w/Rob to start your day. Enjoy!
