Still here (barely) and still totally immersed in getting the 'other blog' up and running. I love learning a new program and in learning this one I'm also learning tons about building a website from scratch. Prior to this I had created a website for BH but it was/is very much a cut and paste job. It does look nice if I do say so myself, but it's old-style, if you will, with possibly too many animations and photos that could be cut in size at least in half etc... So, after getting my site up and running, when I know what I'm doing at least partially, I'll try re-doing BH's in RapidWeaver.
A year ago I would have run a mile should anyone suggest that I delve into the HTML or CSS code and change a bit here or there - not now. I am SO brave, lol. I'm still amazed at how just changing a couple of bits of code can make a page look so totally different, and I'm hooked. Too hooked maybe, because it's meaning that the other site is taking about twice as long to do as I had originally planned, and that's down to spending so much time on the 'back end' and tweaking this or that, but, I am having a ball.
It's just that the fun's got to stop sometime, at least for a short time, so that I can actually get it uploaded onto my webspace in all it's glory for the masses to flock to.
Well, one can dream can't one? :-D
Still working on/with RapidWeaver, and luvvin' every minute! I'm sure the new site would be coming along lovely if only I could decide on design matters :-) I tend to be a bit like this, get really stuck into something and stay there until I'm either completely satisfied, totally frustrated or wholly exhausted - sometimes, somewhat of a combo.
A nice piece of smoked salmon and some fresh pasta and then to soldier on.
Tomorrow is supposed to be lovely and warm so I may have to take some time out from the 'studies' and spend a day or two out and enjoying the bank holiday weekend with BH.
Hope all of you do too!
Another beautiful day out, and I've been inside doing the 'domestic' thing. :-( Had to be done, things just don't get dusted/cooked/ironed/washed/sorted/straightened or binned sitting outside in the sunshine. Did get a nice meal made though, and used a lot of herbs from BH's herb garden. He's got quite the variety growing now along with some lettuce and strawberries. I'm doing the flowers and he's doing the food, fair I think. :-) Now the clouds are starting to bunch up and get a bit darker so guess I'll be in this afternoon too. Which is okay, The Mac's innards are just about due a spring clean.
Time to go through the totally out of hand and waaayy too numerous bookmarks in FF and Safari, bin ones that don't interest me anymore or I've no idea why I saved in the first place and then re-sort the rest. Also there needs to be a cull online of beta's I've signed up for (because I've just GOT to try everything that comes along) . On average, I'd say that out of 10 beta's I try, I'm still using one in 3-6 months time. Of those, I'd imagine that fewer than 5% are still in use in a years time. So, cull it is!
The Mummy-in-law just dropped by a lovely piece of carrot cake and two cream cake thingys from their outing at a garden center (this one just happens, sheer coincidence I'm certain, to have a very nice cafe too). I am such a lucky girl! Most are usually single layer, this one is two layers with tons of lovely frosting! Mmmm....
I've also decided to redo the still very new "other blog" and get it off of Blogger. So I'll be spending some time getting to know RapidWeaver and trying to get everything set up for the move. "Other" will be foodie and everything else goes on Vox or Tumblr. That brings to mind another cull that is sorely needed - downloaded demo programs. I've got quite a few on here now that were free to try for a variety of time, and now it's time to get the ones that I haven't purchased and don't intend to, off. So if we do have a couple of rainy days like they seem to think we will, I've got lots of work sorted out to do!
