It is either like late Spring or early Autumn here today, haven't decided which just yet. I've got a jumper on and it is grey, loads of low thick clouds, now becoming extremely windy, cool and at times damp. Yay. A few days ago I was basking in the glorious sunshine, embracing that which is summer; today I'm considering hibernation. I just happen to be one of 'those' people that start to shiver anytime the mercury dips below about 20C. Even higher if it's cloudy and windy.

It seems as though we've become a sort of half-way house for homing pigeons. A few weeks ago one showed up and has yet to leave, then about a week after that 1st one another came (we call them homie1 and homie2, lol). Then a third who came, stayed a few days and hasn't been back. Numbers 4 and 5 were just here for a day or two. As it stands now, Homie1 has been "stopping over" for about a month now, and Homie2 about a week-week and a half less. I'm thinking that if these are all coming from the same person, they must certainly be doing something wrong. I did do some research online and there is a place you can contact about stray homing pigeons, but you're not to contact them unless you have the bird caged/secured. I wouldn't bother. They've not gone "home" for whatever reason and I'm not about to make them as they seem quite content where they are, plus I've heard that some owners will do away (put into any context you like) with birds that are gone for a length of time and then return. Maybe they've heard this too?

More grief than fun with the other blog lately, the software I was using decided to have one problem after another, so I've decided to ditch it - at least for now, and go back to WP. It's just sooo much easier, enjoyable and none of the headache of running your own server. The "ahhh" (as in relief) factor. Does make it a bit difficult continuity wise, but then again if I wouldn't hop around so much . . . . . . :-)

The countdown is on; only 74 days to holiday! I am really, really looking forward to it. Derbyshire here we come, and of course no trip there would be complete without a trip to my second home (in the world in my mind *g*), Chatsworth. We've been to many stately homes and I have never found one any lovlier or more inviting that Chatsworth. Some were larger perhaps, even more ornate and 'showy', but there is something about "C" that simply makes me smile when we arrive, and never want to leave.

Suppose that's it for now, enough rambling and time to clear this excessive to do pile on the desk!

What promises to be a perfect cottage for our holiday that is! :-)

Two weeks in the Autumn near Bakewell in the Derbyshire countryside. Ahhh.... my two favourite areas of England, Derbyshire/Peak District and any part of Yorkshire, so it had to be one or the other. And, with it being Bakewell, we'll be close to Chatsworth which is my most favouritest (lol) stately home in the land. Can't wait to get back!

The 'cottage' looks like a little square castle and was a nurseryman's bothy 150 years ago. The pictures of the inside are really lovely and it has a glowing log burning stove, a sheltered roof terrace in addition to the garden area for alfresco dining (weather permitting), and is pretty much off on it's own with lots of trees and views across the Derwent Valley. I am SO looking forward to being back in Derbyshire. In my opinion, England's very own little piece of Heaven. Now if I could only make the calendar move that little bit faster for a time. Funny that - normally trying to slow it down!

The snow has finally all melted which is nice considering it's nearly April! I love the stuff, but much closer to Christmas and only for a few days. It was really a surreal few days here on the coast weather wise.

OK, I'm off now to finish the day's laundry, await Tesco's arrival and think about making some rolls. 50% wholewheat - 50% seeded white sounds good to me. You? Maybe just one small batch of biccies too? Sure, no prob. :-D
