What promises to be a perfect cottage for our holiday that is! :-)
Two weeks in the Autumn near Bakewell in the Derbyshire countryside. Ahhh.... my two favourite areas of England, Derbyshire/Peak District and any part of Yorkshire, so it had to be one or the other. And, with it being Bakewell, we'll be close to Chatsworth which is my most favouritest (lol) stately home in the land. Can't wait to get back!
The 'cottage' looks like a little square castle and was a nurseryman's bothy 150 years ago. The pictures of the inside are really lovely and it has a glowing log burning stove, a sheltered roof terrace in addition to the garden area for alfresco dining (weather permitting), and is pretty much off on it's own with lots of trees and views across the Derwent Valley. I am SO looking forward to being back in Derbyshire. In my opinion, England's very own little piece of Heaven. Now if I could only make the calendar move that little bit faster for a time. Funny that - normally trying to slow it down!
The snow has finally all melted which is nice considering it's nearly April! I love the stuff, but much closer to Christmas and only for a few days. It was really a surreal few days here on the coast weather wise.
OK, I'm off now to finish the day's laundry, await Tesco's arrival and think about making some rolls. 50% wholewheat - 50% seeded white sounds good to me. You? Maybe just one small batch of biccies too? Sure, no prob. :-D
What food item would you miss the most if it were removed from your diet and recipes?
It would have to be butter. The additive ridden substitutes they try to pass off as "tasting just like . . ." - well, simply don't. And there's nothing better than baking with real, honest to goodness butter!
It's been busy as of late. Well, I don't know if it's busy as much as scatterbrained, which tends to make one think they're busy ;-)
I've settled my Mac addled brain finally, once and for all. As much as I've gone on and on about wanting a MacBook Pro, I've decided on one of the new iMacs. After seeing one up close and personal I was totally smitten. I just cannot justify the cost of the MacBook Pro when I'm really, honestly not very interested in portability. All summer, I can't think of more than about 3 times I had the Vaio outside. When going on holiday I never, never take the notebook as it's one of the things I'm happy (for a period of time) to get away from. BH always takes his so that we have something to offload photos from our cameras to, and we just don't 'do' the internet on holiday. With the iMac I'm able to afford more memory (4GB!)and a much larger hard drive (750GB!), and still pay less. I really like the idea of the iMac's "all in one" concept and it just looks soooo lovely! For me at least, the main selling point of the MB Pro is portability . . . something I just don't need, or really want. And to share my joy with you all, I'll photo op it's arrival/unpacking when it gets here. I'm hoping to order in the next week or so and will be on needles and pins until it shows up, lol.
I've been neglecting lots of things in my 'scatterbrained' state of late. There's the forum that I'm meant to be creating for a website I'm part of, I've probably spent a whole 4 hours on that with about 40 more needed from what I can tell. There's the dusting that's taken a back seat lately. Our bedroom has two sets of glass shelving (4 shelves each) and the dust is thick enough to give them a decent 'snow covered' effect. Ewwwww...... I did, however, get the 2 freezers defrosted last week - so a star on my chart!
I simply cannot stand it one more minute, I'm off to Apple UK to claim my iMac! Details to follow. Somehow I don't think you've heard the end of this just yet **very, VERY big grin**
Have spent the better part of the day organizing, tagging and uploading photos to Flickr. I've tried several times to get some more uploaded here on Vox using the 'Uploader' but it's not connecting for whatever reason :-(
I'll give it another go hopefully tomorrow, but for now I'm off to bake a cake. Feeling very domestic as of late . . . hmmmmmm, lol. 'Till next time, have a look at my first rolls using the Panasonic. They are were very tasty!
